Things to know

Single Visit

Our spa closing service usually takes one visit to your property. Unless your spa is part of a bigger closing with a pool attached.

Schedule Ahead

It is recommended to close your spa 2 or more weeks prior to your closing date, in case any unforeseen issues occur.

Equipment Storage

D&R offers gunite spa pump storage at no charge securely in our warehouse over the winter. Optionally we can remove, and store your heater tray at an additional charge. Ensure protection against theft, pest damages, and accessories to equipment do not get lost; for a smoother opening process. Portable spa pumps get stored in their cabinets and remain there.

Water & Electric

Until we close your spa, we will still need outdoor water spigot access. We also need ready access to an outdoor power outlet for spa closing equipment.

Locked Access

For storage and ease of access if you will not be home, please provide us with any access keys, codes, or instructions for your specified storage areas. We will need this to retrieve your cover, and store any accessories. We will always leave your property in the condition we found it, and secure any entryways.

DIY

If you have never opened or closed your spa, it is not a good idea to attempt it yourself. Parts can break and cause extensive damage, not to mention the danger of electricity also. Please leave it to the professionals at D&R.

The Spa Closing Process

How do we close your spa?

Empty and Drain

Pump all of the water out of the spa and discharge the water safely to a designated location on your property only.

Disconnect Equipment

Disconnect all spa equipment – disconnect all of your spa equipment. The pumps stay stored inside of the cabinet.

For a gunite spa closing, we store your pump in our safe environmentally controlled warehouse to prolong pump life and easy access for opening your spa. *unless you specify otherwise we will store your pump in our warehouse.

Blow Out Lines

Thoroughly blow out your spa pipes, skimmers, returns, and all water features. Heaters, filters, and autofills too. Failure to do this properly can cause freezing, resulting in line breakage. They can be in hard to reach areas and become a costly repair. We ensure this won’t happen.

Wrapping It Up

Cover your spa – whether it’s a tarp cover or safety mesh cover. Tarp covers are used on portable spas tightly secured for even the harshest conditions to prolong your cabinet life. Some clients choose to get custom made spa covers as well.
