Why Choose D&R for Pool Resurfacing?

We go far beyond cosmetic fixes. Our pool resurfacing process is engineered for maximum adhesion, durability, and visual appeal, using only premium materials and expert craftsmanship every step of the way.

  • Complete Bond Kote application on every pool

  • Hollow spots and weak areas are identified and removed

  • Precision troweling for an even, consistent finish

  • Final acid wash to bring out color and clarity

From prep to aftercare, every step is handled by professionals who care about doing the job right.

Surface Options: Marble Dust vs. Diamond Brite®

Every pool is different—so we offer high-quality finishes to suit your vision and your budget.

Traditional Marble Dust

  • Smooth and elegant finish in white, grey, and blue tones

  • Lasts 7–10 years with proper maintenance

  • More susceptible to mottling and staining over time

Diamond Brite® Quartz Aggregate Finish

  • Long-lasting surface: 12–15+ years

  • Richer color options: blues, greys, greens, and blends

  • Slight sparkle from natural quartz adds depth and luxury

  • Subtle texture that resists staining and hides imperfections

Not sure which to choose? We’ll guide you through the selection process based on your aesthetic, pool use, and maintenance goals.

We Handle the Aftercare Too

Pool resurfacing doesn’t end when the plaster sets. The first 28 days are critical. Our team handles this for you:

  • Daily brushing for the first two weeks

  • Water chemistry monitoring to protect the new surface

  • Post-cure support and guidance for long-term results

If you’re installing a salt water system, we’ll get it in place during the renovation and return to add the salt and activate the system after the surface is fully cured—usually around 6 months.

Things to know

Empty Pool

Pool resurfacing requires your swimming pool to be emptied. Re-filling can take an additional 24+ hours after the project depending on your pool size. There is also the option of having your pool filled faster with a water truck.

Multiple Visits

Performing a pool resurfacing will take more than a few days, requiring emptying, resurfacing, filling, and aftercare. This process also requires multiple people performing the job to prevent the plaster from settling too quickly.

Surface Care

This project must be scheduled during the right weather to avoid damage. After resurfacing your pool, a curing and maintenance will be required, and certain chemicals can not be added immediately. The walls must be brushed every couple of days.

Water & Electric

We will need outside water access for the cleaning process. Electric is also needed for any pumps, machinery, and tools.

Locked Access

For property ease of access - if you will not be home, please provide us with any access keys, codes, or instructions for your specified entrance areas. We will always re-lock anything and secure any entryways as if we were never there.

Skilled Trade

Never attempt pool resurfacing yourself. It must be done by an experienced professional. We take preventative measures, and pay attention to detail for an extended surface life.

Pool Resurfacing and Pool Marble Dusting Information

We never recommend marble dusting your own pool. Leave it to the pool professionals at D&R. It takes a team of experience professionals working quickly and diligently to ensure the surface is smooth and cures properly. We can help you choose from several styles, textures, and combinations to create that perfect look.
Variety of looks, variety of material choice, new swimming pool look, and no more rough surfaces.
Required pool chemicals degrade the swimming pool's surface over time. Environmental factors can also have a great impact on the pool surface's longevity.
D&R Pool Services highly recommends resurfacing your swimming pool after 10 years or when you feel there needs to be a change. Especially if the surface is starting to crack or looks cosmetically unsettling. Injuries can occur from chipped and sharp edges; if there are safety hazards we recommend a pool resurfacing as soon as possible - to avoid serious cuts to swimmers.
Marble Dusting is the protective layer on a gunite pool covering the substrate, or the gunite/shotcrete underneath. It is a bond-coat treated material that lasts for years and must be done by a professional. There are pleasant designs and various textures that can fit your needs.

Pool Resurfacing Process

Steps we take for a marble dusting
Choose Your Surface
Choose from a variety of colors and surface types from Diamond Brite; with years of proved durability and longevity - to compliment the look of your swimming pool.
Drain Pool And/Or Spa
We will carefully drain your pool and/or spa to a designated discharge location on your property only.
The Cleaning
Your gunite pool or spa will be pressure washed, and then have the old plaster shell chipped away via jackhammers and other machinery; followed by disposing of all the old material. Afterwards, patching and repairing any damage will take place.
Marble Dusting
Your new top coat will be applied to the swimming pool or spa.
Fill With Water
Re-fill your swimming pool or spa and get the equipment running again. Re-filling can take an additional 24+ hours depending on your pool size and will require multiple visits - to start up the pool and balance the chemicals. There is also the option of filling it faster with a water truck at an additional charge.
Chemical Balancing, Brushing, And After Care
Thoroughly balance and maintain 7 parameters of your pool's chemicals to APSP and ANSI standards. We are experienced in various size pools and can calculate the gallons and chemical requirements for all pools.

We will also need to provide aftercare brush the pool every couple of days - for at least 2 weeks to prevent calcium buildup and surface longevity.
